It was a little iffy, but Steph & Josh got to close on their new house on Friday, March 1. There were a few hassles with the loan officer, but they finally got it all done. Their builder was really nice and let them start moving things into their house early morning, even though closing wasn't until 4PM. That was a good thing - Josh had arranged for the movers to come and help move the heavy things from the garage into the house and had the furniture store scheduled to bring the furniture out - all because they thought they would be closing early in the morning. Somehow it all worked out but the stress was hard. I helped by taking care of the kids. Got to spend some quality time with them Saturday. Friday night Steph & Josh were tired and came home for supper. Josh then went to stay at the new house and Steph and the kids stayed ovenight with us. Poor little Corbin has a little case of eczema going on but he is such a laid back guy he takes it in stride.
Saturday was a fun day for me. While Steph and Josh (with help from Bernie and Becca) moved in and put the beds together, etc., I played with the kids. Hadley is in love with an M&M bag my co-worker Jan gave her. She calls it her purse. She packed it up in the bedroom and then journeyed out into the kitchen. Caught a few snapshots of the process.
If you know my house, this was a journey from the middle bedroom, down the hallway, around the curve in the living room, through the dining room, into the kitchen. A nice little walk. Corbin was smiley and happy and content in his chair.
Hadley continually checks on him to be sure he was OK and still there. He is so quiet you have to do that or you forget he is around!
We snacked all morning and cheated a little and had popcorn around lunch time. Nice to have a popcorn buddy.
It was exhausting work following Hadley around. When she took a nap, Corbin and I sacked out in the chair. Guess this is where Steph saw us and snapped our picture......
Steph and the kids stayed over again Saturday night while Josh stayed at the house. Sunday morning Steph packed up all their stuff they had brought to the house and took the kids and moved to the new house. We went over for the evening and checked everything out - it was just too quiet and sad at our house. It was tough to go home and leave the kids somewhere else. We enjoyed the two weeks they were with us. The time just flew by and things went well. We hope the Hughes feel the same way. Monday morning was lonely and tough to not be able to see the kids and help them get ready for daycare, but we survived!
