New Year's Eve

Bernie and I decided to head to Grand Falls Casino to ring in the New Year.  We saw the ad in the paper and it looked like fun plus right in our budget:  free bands, free champagne and free party favors!  We headed out early in case we didn't want to stay until after Midnight but we were having so much fun we didn't get home until 1AM!  We did a little gambling to start out until the band started in the Show Lounge.  We enjoyed listening to Surfin' Safari and reminised about Rick Burgaard, who was playing guitar.  We knew him "way back when" from other bands, including Myron Lee and the Caddies.  Their music was '60's and great.  Part of the fun of the evening was running into people we knew.  Headed over to the Big Dip Cafe and had supper.  Bernie enjoyed his BBQ Pork Sandwich and my Chicken Strips were good.  A little more gambling and then stood in line to get into the Events Center.  This beautiful ice sculpture greeted us.
Earlier in the evening there had been an event here for the VIP group.  We ran into Paige and Charlie Larson, our neighbors, and they had been invited to this.  Guess you have to drop more money in the machines than we do to get invited!  My co-worker Sharon said her friend had been invited but she had won $32,000 in the casino.  Wow.....  We found a table, got drinks and relaxed.  Isn't it pretty in here?

The band started.  It was Band X from Atlanta Georgia and even though I am a die hard country fan and they were not country, their music was great.  I recognized almost all the songs and they rolled from one song into the other with such style!

The countdown to the New Year was on screens all over the casino.  Getting closer, getting closer.....
Happy New Year Everyone!  What a fun evening!  We are already talking about going next year!
