Denver Vacation Day 3

Woke up this morning, Thursday, July 14, and enjoyed another good breakfast in the hotel lobby. Headed to Target before we started our day for a few supplies. Becca just had to try this hat on from the dollar section. What a cute little bug she is! Agenda for the day: Coors Brewery before the Colorado Rockies game. Headed to Golden, CO, and what a pretty drive it was. Closer to the mountains than we are in Englewood.Parked in the Coors lot and hopped on this bus to the brewery.

Entry way to the brewery tour was very pretty.

We signed in, produced our ID, got our "over 21" bracelets and our phones for the self guided tour.

The beginning displays were interesting and we learned all about aluminum used for canned beer.

This display told us all about the hops, wheat and barley used in beer.
These are the many copper containers used in the brewing process.

The manned control center keeps an eye on everything going on.

All of the panels were informative and the self guided phone sets told us all about them.

Had our first sampling in the Fresh Beer Room.

A kind gentleman offered to take our picture. Bernie loved the background.

The packing of the beer cans into the cartons was fascinating. So fast!

Stopped to snap a picture in the entry way to the Tasting Room.

We got to taste 3 different beers. I got 2 glasses down, which is wonderful for me. Bernie and Becca were able to do all 3 of theirs. Pros!

The tasting room had a beautiful painting of what appeared to be the original Coors Brewery.

Becca found a perfect souvenir for the serious beer drinker - a beer belt!

I posed Bernie and Becca in front of the building on our way out.....

And another kind gentleman offers to take a picture of all of us. Wow, they are so nice here in Denver!

Back to our hotel to relax until game time. Becca puts on her new Colorado Rockies attire that we found at Target! She is ready for a ball game!

Headed to the Rail Line and it looked like rain. Started to drizzle and Bernie wrapped his sunflower seats in his sweatshirt to keep dry. Got into the bridge over I-25 to walk to the rail station and he didn't have them! Becca looked down and saw them on the grass by the sidewalk. Bernie ran back and got them! After all, they have Minnesota Twins on the package and we are going to a Colorado Rockies game!

Rode the rail to Union Station and it is still raining a little. Becca and I need a snack and Bernie is ready for a beer because for once we are early to get to Coors Field. We stop in a little pizza place, Anthony's, for a slice of pizza. It smelled so good walking by there! We ordered our slices, and were they ever huge! And so good! It started pouring heavy and we waited for it to slow down before heading to the stadium.

Walked to the Stadium in the drizzle. Was greeted by this cool arch.

Becca found a green Colorado Rockies sign!

The infield is covered to protect it from the rain.

Bernie and Becca walk down to find our seats. Once the rain stops, we will be in them!

We found out in our tour that the Sandlot Bar in the stadium is a micro-brewery. They trial special beers and if after 5 years they are still popular, the Coors Company considers marketing them to the rest of the public. Blue Moon was one such beer and now you can buy it in the liquor store.

Bernie went up to the bar and asked them about the beers that they were testing. A very nice bartender gave him a sample of all 5 beers that were "specials", which is what they call them. She explained all about them and Bernie bought a glass of the one he liked the best.

We found some cute cardboard cutouts for Becca to pose in!

This sign greeted everyone at the gate we DIDN'T come in.

We walked completely around the stadium. Great view of the infield from this ledge.

Rain has quit and it is game time!

This cute statue was on our way to our seats.

Bernie said "look, he has a tear on his face". Aww, it is just the rain!

We made it to our seat and the game started on time! No rain delay!

Dinger made the rounds.

Rockies beat the Brewers 12 to 3. We stopped in the gift shop and Becca got her very own Dinger!

We convinced Becca to walk through a little of downtown and the 16th Street Mall to see the night life. Saw a giant Jinga game going on with boards. Cool. Walked to Union Station, caught the rail and got back to the hotel about midnight. Late night but worth every minute! What a fun day.

Looks like you had a nice trip to Denver! We were there a few weeks before you at the end of June-we went to Pikes Peak, 2 baseball games and the Denver Zoo.
