Denver Vacation Day 1

The day finally arrived! Up at 3AM in typical Ideker fashion on Tuesday, July 12, to take off on our Denver Vacation. We are going to check one more Major League Baseball Stadium off Becca's list by heading to a Colorado Rockies Game. By 3:57AM, we are up, awake and loaded in the car, ready for our 11 hour drive. Drive through the Rosebud Indian Reservation was interesting. Stopped in Valentine, NE, at The Bunkhouse for a good breakfast. Next stop was at the first Rest Area in Colorado to pick up tourist information. The staff in the rest area were so nice. Bernie got a new cap out of the deal and they told us how this spot was a major stop for the Pony Express. We visited the memorials dedicated to this.

They had really "unique" Tepees at the rest stop. Must not be as cold there as SD. They only come down so far! Asked my scrapbook subjects to pose for a picture but I suspected they did not smile.

Made them take another shot. :)

And of course the pose by the "Welcome to Colorado" sign that we need for our scrapbook.

Then back in the car for th rest of our drive. Arrived at our beautiful hotel, Comfort Suites in Englewood, Colorado. We were so happy with our room!

Had it's own little kitchen - microwave, refrigerator, sink, plus usual coffeemaker.

A couch and coffee table in the little living area.Two queen size beds.A desk across from the sofa.A large TV, DVD player and a nice reading spot across from the beds.We settled into our room, found our swimsuits, and off to the pool. Nice pool area!

Bernie and Becca braved the cold water, but once they were in, it was nice.

Then they relaxed in the whirlpool.

Since we have refrigerator and microwave, off to Target down the street for beverages and snacks. The check in clerk, Dolly, told us about a Bar and Grill, Lodo's, that she heard was good. We used our trusty GPS and found it. It was really nice! It had an open upper deck that looked out the back across the area.

We ate a delicious meal in the lower level and watched the All Star Game.

I loved the lamp shades!

Back to our lovely room to finish watching the game. Think Becca has settled in? She has!

A great beginning to our vacation. Now a good nights sleep for a busy next day!
