Christmas Shopping Day

Bernie and I took Wednesday, December 1, off to do our Annual Christmas Shopping Day. This has become one of our favorite traditions. It started when Steph was little and we were having trouble getting all the shopping done for Christmas. So we took the first Wednesday off in December to do it together. Even though we no longer have to hurry through our day to pick up kids at daycare, we continue to do this day together. It starts out with breakfast, usually at HyVee. Our lists and the ads get spread out and we plan our day. This year it started out that way, but we had to make a few additions to our day. We are thinking about redoing the sink, counter and cabinet in our bathroom. We went to Bullseye Cabinet to go over their plans and look at wood, countertop, etc. Then to Austads. Bernie had not been able to get the truck started when he got off work on Tuesday night. Sure enough, it would not start again Wednsday morning. He called Eastgate Towing and they came to take the truck to Sioux Falls Ford. Bernie watched every step to be sure the truck got loaded carefully.

Once the truck was tucked onto the tow truck and taken away, we started our shopping. Now we can get lots of it done on the Eastside! Walmart, Target, Shopko, etc. were our first stops. Once we exhausted the Eastside choices, we headed west. First stop was to regroup. Bernie had gotten a gift card to The Little Wine Celler to try some of their wine. We stopped in to check it out. He got a half glass of wine and we found places in the center area near the fireplace.

I went over to Coffea to get a Caramel Latte. This is how they swirled the cream for me!

I enjoyed my coffee while Bernie enjoyed his wine near this beautiful fireplace.

Then off to Sam's Club, Kohl's, Gordman's, Toys 'R Us, and the Mall. We got most of our shopping done in this one day! A few things we couldn't find and had to Cyber shop. We have a few other places to we will need to shop at to pick up the final things.

Our last stop was Shenanigans for our annual supper with Steph & Josh. We enjoyed visiting and eating and then back to our house so Josh could finish some things with our new BluRay DVD player. What a great day!
